Whole-setting training and accreditation for early years settings
About the programme
Elklan Communication Friendly Setting (CFSe) accreditation is awarded to settings that have trained and support all their staff in communication and language development. They will also have shown evidence of embedding this knowledge in targeted interventions and through the implementation of a Communication Policy.
One of these practitioners will be equipped by an Elklan tutor to train all the staff in your setting. They are known as the Lead Communication Practitioners (LCP).
The LCP delivers five one-hour-long sessions to ALL staff in your school – this is called Communication Counts. Evidence of embedding the stategies will be confimed by a visit from a peer or an Elklan Tutor at the end of the programme.
Accreditation can be achieved in one year and can be renewed after three years. It is the most cost effective strategy available for whole-setting capacity building in communication.

What is Communication Counts?
Communication Counts is a course written by us which your Lead Communication Practitioner delivers to all the staff in your setting; this includes any administrative staff or lunchtime supervisors, in fact, anyone who speaks with the children! We provide the teaching notes, mentoring and resources to facilitate this and support the LCP to achieve level 4 accreditation. Your LCP won’t attend another course but will analyse the embedding and impact of the training in your setting.ea
The five sessions cover:

Creating a Communication Friendly Setting and adult-child interaction
Online training accredited at level 3 delivered via blended learning costs £350 - £360 per person plus VAT.
Each member of your staff completing this training will receive access to the corresponding Language Builders e-book. We highly recommend each practitioner going on to become an LCP in your setting also has a hard copy of the Language Builders book available. Please contact us for pricing information.

Settings who have completed level 3 training
Those settings which have completed level 3 training and have been advised by a member of Elklan staff to book their LCPs on a level 4 CFSe – Early Years course can do so by selecting one of the available options below. Your place will not be confirmed until approved by a member of Elklan staff.
Please note these courses are only for those settings who do not already have their own Elklan tutor. If you have an Elklan tutor already, please contact them directly to discuss your next steps.
Leaders rightly place a strong emphasis on developing children’s communication skills and staff have received rigourous training to support them in developing children’s speech and language. This approach has been effective and children make rapid progress in their confidence and well-being. Parents support this view and many spoke of how their once-shy children are now self-assured when talking adults and each other. In 2016, children reached standards above the expected by others nationally in their communication and language skills.
