More than 60,000 people
across the UK and around the world have chosen to become Elklan learners, completing courses run by our network of 3,500 therapists and specialist teachers we've trained as licenced tutors.
Elklan has been proud to have worked with Derby City Council and Dept of Education colleagues to bring TALK Derby to Early Years practitioners in the city. The project is drawing to a close, and so we want to take this opportunity to all of those who have worked so diligently to make the Elklan training offered a success over the past two years.
Times have been challenging, but our wonderful team of Elklan tutors, especially Faith Cross and Suzanne Dunne who have worked tirelessly to support the learners to improve the life chances and communication skills of pre-school children in Derby.
As the SENCo at a large primary school I work with many speech and language therapists, as well as the staff who deliver the programmes they write. The 5-11s course has provided me with a thorough and comprehensive overview of speech and language needs and strategies.
I found the course structure logical and accessible. I also liked the fact that many of the strategies discussed could be used as whole class or group teaching approaches, not just as 1:1 intervention – particularly the strategies around vocabulary and expressive language development.
The Language Builders manual is a great resource, providing clear information and worked examples. An excellent professional development opportunity.

Re: Elklan e-learning sessions for 5-11s
I have found this course to be really useful and informative. This was my top training of 2019!
The tutor shows a lot of passion and appeared very knowledgeable in this area. The course has made me reflect on my 1-1 work with young people and how it can be improved on to better meet my young people's speech and language needs
