The Emotion Wheels can be used by using the core emotion wheel first to reinforce the emotional vocabulary of 'happy', 'calm', 'excited', 'sad', 'angry' and 'scared' and then introduce the more varied vocabulary of emotions. One side of the Emotion wheel displays all the emotion words or a blue section wheel can be rotated to reveal the vocabulary options for one emotion at a time giving easily adaptable additional support.
The Emotion Fan can be used to reinforce the core emotions in a natural context by helping the student to associate the physical feelings they experience at the time with the emotion word and visual symbol.
