We are delighted to have been successful with our partners Education Development Trust (EDT) in our bid to deliver the Department for Education’s Early Years Professional Development Programme (EYPDP).

The programme will support early years practitioners who work in pre-reception settings attended by more disadvantaged children aged 2-4 in selected local authority areas. The programme aims to improve the quality of practice within settings to ensure that children – now and in future – are better prepared for moving into school, particularly through improved language, literacy and numeracy skills.

Enhancing practice to improve outcomes

‘As an evidence-led organisation, we know that training staff to interact and communicate appropriately with children is essential if we are going to improve the life chances of all children including those from the most challenging backgrounds’ comment Liz Elks and Henrietta McLachlan, UK Directors at Elklan. ‘We are delighted to be working with the Education Development Trust and using both of our extensive delivery experiences to ensure that practitioners receive specialist support and training to enhance their practice and give these children the best possible start in life.’

A pilot phase will begin later this year, with further information available over the coming weeks and months. We will be looking for Elklan tutors to be involved.
