I wanted to share just how useful staff are finding the Elklan 5 – 11 programme in relation to their conversations with Ofsted. We are hearing that many inspectors are asking about vocabulary and oracy when they are visiting schools. The programme gives staff such a broad and balanced understanding of the issues that they are able to articulate their thinking and the approaches they are taking in the classroom and across school. Staff feel confident – in their own learning, that their understanding is evidence based and that Elklan contributes to a thriving, flourishing educational system.

As the SENCo at a large primary school I work with many speech and language therapists, as well as the staff who deliver the programmes they write. The 5-11s course has provided me with a thorough and comprehensive overview of speech and language needs and strategies.

I found the course structure logical and accessible. I also liked the fact that many of the strategies discussed could be used as whole class or group teaching approaches, not just as 1:1 intervention – particularly the strategies around vocabulary and expressive language development.

The Language Builders manual is a great resource, providing clear information and worked examples. An excellent professional development opportunity.

I have found this course to be really useful and informative. This was my top training of 2019!
